Where Scott does shine (and Broadnax burnishes him) is in his dialogue work, which includes teasing conversations that slip deep beneath the men’s skin. “I found an Afrocentric descended angel that reminded me of Aphrodite, and I wondered what would be her aphrodisiac.” “She was like the perfect use of assonance,” Love (Dyllón Burnside) says about a hazily imagined woman. Luke James sings occasional musical interludes, which do add grace and gravity, but Scott’s own rhapsodic mode can be clunky. Tristan Mack Wilds has a monologue about the rules imparted by neighborhood elders back in the day, like “Respect your heroes, but know they’re not perfect.” The audience claps at this truism - and they get in the habit, so most of the 20 or so scenes end with a little ovation. (There’s something odd about the firmness with which the play asserts its don’t-make-fun-of-the-gay-guy bona fides right after making a joke about having a dog with “they” pronouns.) The gentrifier and the locals have a complicated conversation about what constitutes a neighborhood, but for the most part, the play straightforwardly states life lessons, many of which become applause lines. These include an encounter at the barbershop, where the requisite wise barber (Esau Pritchett) lays down the law about respecting everyone, even the swish gentrifier played (with brio) by Bryan Terrell Clark. “If you’re Black, you got a favorite pair,” says Lust (the comic standout Da’Vinchi), and the way the men laugh together about history, beauty, money, and clothing tells you more about their paths to manhood than the less subtle, more expositional sections. In the play’s best and most delicate scene, he and a few of the other men line up for the new Nike Air Jordans. He supports his mother and brothers on an insufficient paycheck his degree from MIT isn’t exactly useful while dealing with restocking issues. Depression works at an upscale grocery store with a name that starts with a big, green “Wh” (Sven Ortel did the tongue-in-cheek projection design), which partly explains his twanging tension. All seven men get equal time - though no one seems to have told Forrest McClendon’s Depression, whose electrifying energy makes him seem the first among these equals. Scott’s text shows us this “full dimension” via quick scenes, some only a few lines, others long and comparatively luxurious. It’s very specific, but it’s sublime - we are part of the American fabric, and we want to be known for our full dimension.” When I spoke to Broadnax back in March, he said “We’re hoping to add dimension to the Black male, and while doing that, claim that we, too, are America. Broadnax III nonetheless says Thoughts is partly an “homage” to the 1976 choreopoem. Scott’s language is less high-flown than Shange’s, but director Steve H. It is both like and unlike Ntozake Shange’s For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow Is Enuf, which also used poetic monologues, spoken by quasi-allegorical, quasi-autobiographical figures. Seven men with allegorical names like Happiness and Wisdom speak in casual banter when in company and flights of poetry when alone. Thoughts is Scott’s impressionistic portrait of Black manhood. “Welcome to my mind,” says playwright Keenan Scott II during the preshow announcement, and the drama - the exploded view of that mind - is explicitly about making visible what’s usually kept private. Every brightly illuminated choice emphasizes that Thoughts of a Colored Man has been designed to be seen from far away. As the characters visit various locations in their neighborhood in Brooklyn, the performers wander around and on the billboard’s metal framework. Behind the performers on the Golden Theatre’s stage is a huge white rectangle with the word COLORED blocked out in gray-on-white letters. The play also takes place on a sign - Robert Brill’s set is a gigantic billboard. In February, no one knew exactly how or when an opening would happen, so the display was a big, bold, crocus-yellow promise that the theater was going to return. For one thing, the show itself was a sign: Thoughts was the first new show to put up a marquee during the COVID shutdown. Signs play an important part in the episodic play Thoughts of a Colored Man.

The minimum amount you can charge depends on which bank account settlement currency the payment would be paid out to. This ensures you don’t lose money on a charge. Any difference from rounding is credited or debited to the customer balance.Īs Stripe’s processing fee combines a small fixed amount and a percentage, we enforce a minimum amount when creating a charge. For invoices where the amount is fractional after prorations, coupons, or taxes, Stripe automatically rounds that amount to the nearest number evenly divisible by 100. In other words, you can’t charge fractions of UGX. The amount value must be evenly divisible by 100: 100, 200, 300, and so on. For example, to charge 5 UGX, provide an amount value of 500. To maintain backwards compatibility, you must pass in amounts with two decimals. UGX was a decimal-based currency, but is now effectively a zero-decimal currency. You can’t submit a payout for the full balance, TWD 800.45, because the amount value of 80045 is not evenly divisible by 100. For example, if you have an available balance of TWD 800.45, you can pay out TWD 800 by submitting 80000 for the amount value. When you create a manual payout in TWD, only integer amounts that are evenly divisible by 100 are allowed. Stripe treats TWD as a zero-decimal currency for payouts, even though you can charge two-decimal amounts. You can’t submit a payout for the full balance, HUF 10.45, because the amount value of 1045 is not evenly divisible by 100. For example, if you have an available balance of HUF 10.45, you can pay out HUF 10 by submitting 1000 for the amount value. When you create a manual payout in HUF, only integer amounts that are evenly divisible by 100 are allowed. Stripe treats HUF as a zero-decimal currency for payouts, even though you can charge two-decimal amounts. For example, to charge 5 ISK, provide an amount value of 500. The API supports three-decimal currencies for the standard payment flows, including Payment Intents, Refunds, and Disputes. For example, to charge ¥500, provide an amount value of 500. The Young Bosnians were a group of radical nationalists from Bosnia who planned the attack on the Archduke. How The Murder of Franz Ferdinand Unfolded The people were angry, and the extreme nationalists took this opportunity to voice that anger through an act of terrorism.įerdinand’s uniform after the assassination Serbia had doubled its territory and increased its population by 1.5 million since the Balkan wars, and its aim was to unite further territory and people with the Kingdom of Serbia. Since Serbia won the Balkan Wars of 19 it had become a source of frustration for Austria-Hungary. The turbulent political situation and bitter relations resulted in the tensions materialising in underground radical movements. If it worked, this would act as a message and a threat to the Austro-Hungarian government. Upon hearing that the Archduke and heir to the Austro-Hungarian Empire was to visit Sarajevo, a group of young Bosnian student revolutionaries known as the Young Bosnians began hatching a plot to assassinate him. Ferdinand had voiced his thoughts about Serbian people, using an unpleasant vocabulary filled with words like “pigs”, “thieves” and “murderers”. So what did unsuspecting Archduke Franz Ferdinand have to do with it all?Īrchduke Franz Ferdinand was heir to the Austro-Hungarian empire, and he had opposed the annexation of Bosnia and Herzegovina because he believed it would worsen the turbulent political situation. Serbia demanded that Austria-Hungary give them a portion of Bosnia at least, and Austria, with support from Russia, declined and threatened Serbia with invasion if the demands continued to persist. The provinces were home to a huge Serbian population, and the annexation caused outrage among Serbian nationalists. Serbia was close to Bosnia and Herzegovina both geographically and ethnically. Serbia wasn’t at all happy about Austria-Hungary’s decision. During this revolution they commenced a reform program, and as a result Austria-Hungary decided to annex Bosnia and Herzegovina before the Turkish regime managed to gain control of the provinces. July 1908 saw the Young Turks staging a revolution in Constantinople (Istanbul). Austria-Hungary had attempted to improve the valuable region economically, and to tie it to Austria-Hungary. Bosnia and Herzegovina were still formally provinces of the Ottoman Empire, who had controlled them in the past. The Bosnian Crisis of 1908 saw Bosnia and Herzegovina annexed from Austro-Hungary. The early 20th century was a tumultuous time for Eastern Europe, where empires fought for control of the Balkan countries and the people suffered as a result. To understand why the death of Franz Ferdinand took place on 28th June 1914, we must first understand the historical and political context of the time in which the incident occurred. How The Murder of Franz Ferdinand Unfolded. Why was Franz Ferdinand assassinated? What happened on the morning of the assassination? And what reasoning is there to say that this singular event was the cause of World War I? In this post we will discuss each of these questions and provide a detailed insight into the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and how the event was connected to the inception of World War I. This single assassination set in motion a domino effect of events which would inevitably lead to the outbreak of World War I. The catastrophic event reveals a lot about the political and social tensions that characterised the beginning of the 20th century. The Franz Ferdinand assassination took place in June 1914 and was carried out by a Bosnian-Serb and radicalist named Gavrilo Princip. The murder of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austrian throne, is a major historical event that shocked the world. Since the lower layers are short-circuited, sending to a loopback address allows the higher layers (IP and above) to be effectively tested without the chance of problems at the lower layers manifesting themselves. The purpose of the loopback range is testing of the TCP/IP protocol implementation on a host. If it is Whole Class A, What is the Point of Other Arbitrary Values for the Last Three Octets? No datagram sent to a network 127 address should ever appear on any network anywhere. The class A network number 127 is assigned the loopback function, that is, a datagram sent by a higher level protocol to a network 127 address should loop back inside the host. Source: 127.0.0.1 - What Are its Uses and Why is it Important? The loopback construct gives a computer or device capable of networking the capability to validate or establish the IP stack on the machine. Establishing a connection using the address 127.0.0.1 is the most common practice however, using any IP address in the range of 127…* will function in the same or a similar manner. The same convention is defined for computers that support IPv6 addressing using the connotation of ::1. The address is used to establish an IP connection to the same machine or computer being used by the end-user. If a host has two IP addresses, 192.168.1.1 and 10.1.2.1, and a server running on the host listens on 0.0.0.0, it will be reachable at both of those IPs.ġ27.0.0.1 is the loopback Internet protocol (IP) address also referred to as the localhost. In the context of servers, 0.0.0.0 means all IPv4 addresses on the local machine. In the context of a route entry, it usually means the default route.
If you want to transfer data from your SD card to your Nintendo Switch, there are a couple of ways to do it. Go to System > Save Data Management, select the game, and choose “delete selected items.” From here, you can delete data, wallpapers, etc. If you have a lot of game data on your SD card and want to clear up space, you can also delete data from specific games. This is also a great way to clear up space on your SD card if you’re running low. From here, select “delete” and confirm that you want to delete the game and all associated data. To delete a game, go to System > Save Data Management and select the game. Otherwise, you’ll lose that data when you delete the game. Before you do, make sure that you’ve transferred any saved data or game files to another console. If you’ve outgrown a game that’s taking up precious space on your SD card, you can delete it. While Nintendo has made it easy to do, there’s no obvious way to cancel the transfer once it begins. Be careful not to transfer the wrong file. Once the transfer is complete, the game will be available on that console and won’t be on the one you selected. Select the game and choose “Transfer.” From there, select the console to which you want to transfer the game. To transfer files, first go to System > Save Data Management. This is a great option for families, as it lets each person use their own account. If you have multiple Nintendo Switch consoles in the house, you can save space on all of them by moving game files from one to another. If you ever lose your data or get a new Switch, you can simply copy the data from the SD card and you’re good to go. Once that’s done, you can safely store your Switch. Click “Next” and select your SD card as the destination. From here, you can select the data you want to back up. The first step is to go to System > Save Data Management. In the meantime, you can back up your data to an SD card. Nintendo is working on a cloud-based service that will let you back up your Switch data online, but that functionality won’t arrive until later in the year. Fortunately, Nintendo has made it easy to protect your data by backing it up to your SD card. Whether it’s a game on your Nintendo Switch or progress that you’ve made in a different title - it’s not a pleasant feeling. If there’s one thing that can destroy the gaming experience, it’s losing your data. With games installed on an SD card, you can scroll through and select any title you want without interrupting gameplay. If you want to play a different game, you’ll have to first remove the game that’s currently selected. If you have a ton of games on your Nintendo Switch, the system will only show five titles at a time. This is especially useful if you’re playing on a handheld. If you’re using an SD card with your Nintendo Switch, you can install your games to it. This is plenty of storage for most people, but some gamers have a larger-than-average library of games. The Nintendo Switch has 32GB of internal storage, which is about 25GB after system software and an automatic backup are accounted for. How Do Nintendo Switch Memory Cards Work? 1. However, if you are playing games with a memory card, such as from Nintendo Switch Online, a memory card is required. It depends on the games you are playing If you are playing Nintendo games from a cartridge, a memory card is not required. There are many accessories for the Nintendo Switch, but do you need one in particular? If you want to store plenty of game files off your system or just want an easy way to back up your save data, then yes – the Nintendo Switch memory card is something that you need! Keep reading to learn more about these accessories and whether or not they’re worth investing in.ĭo You Need A Memory Card For Nintendo Switch? Even so, you may quickly reach your limit if you plan on buying many games digitally or if you have lots of saved files from other portable devices. While this isn’t enough room for many games, you can install smaller titles to free up some space. You get only 32 GB of internal storage and the option to expand that by using a microSD card. However, its storage options leave a lot to be desired. The Nintendo Switch is a great console with loads of potential. |
